Teachers can easily create a Virtual Classroom for a group of specific students or all students of one or more whole teacher groups.
SCL's secure Built-in Virtual Classroom technology supports the following:
- Voice & Video Collaboration
- Live Presentation
- Public & Private chat
- Breakout rooms
- Screen Sharing
- Polling
- Recording
- Automatically taking student's absences
- Activity Report and other reports
You could also use any External Video collaboration application such as Zoom, Google Meet and so on by clicking “Create External Virtual Classroom”.
Then add the "Virtual Classroom Invitation Link" and click “Start Virtual Classroom”.
External Virtual Classroom security and features are not integrated into SCL and is therefor the teacher's responsibility when using external Virtual Classrooms.
To Create a new Virtual Classroom
- Click on the desired teacher group action menu from the teacher's dashboard and then click on Create Virtual Classroom.
- By default, you will see “Take Students Class Attendance” which enables you to add your late and absent students to your Class Attendance automatically.
- You can select multiple Teacher Groups by clicking Teacher Groups to add more groups to the current Virtual Classroom.
- Checking “Specific Students” will let you select one or more students to have a private session instead of the whole selected Teacher Group.
- You can include documents from your Private Storage to be available on your Virtual Classroom Presentation by browsing which folder you want to include from “INCLUDE PRESENTATION(S) FROM PRIVATE STORAGE”
- You can change the Welcome Message to all users from “Virtual Classroom Welcome Message.”
- Lock Viewers allows you to enable or disable the following:
- Sharing Webcam
- See other viewers' webcams
- Share Microphone
- Send Public chat messages
- Send Private chat messages
- Edit Shared Notes
- See other viewers in the Users list
- Guest Policy by default is “Always Accept”, automatically letting students within the selected teacher group join you without any other verification.
- If you change it to “Ask Moderator” then each time a new student joins will request your permission first before joining the session.
- If you change it to “Always Deny”, no one can join you during the session; this is good if you try to test the new features and don't want your students to join you.
- Invitation Link, this can be manually shared with your colleagues or any user within your school SCL to join the session directly using these invitation Links. Still, normally students and HOD don't require invitation links to join you.
- Once you are ready to start the session, click “Start Virtual Classroom”. This will automatically notify your students.
Virtual Classroom's maximum capacity per session is 100 users, and there is no time limit per single session.
